Product Alert: Safety notice for all UR3, UR5, UR10 CB3 (Generation 3) robots

Subject: ?UR CB3 (Generation 3) robots – all sizes (UR3 with SN less than 2019330933, UR5 with SN less than 2019352041 and UR10 with SN less than 2019302211)?Polyscope Software Update
Polyscope 3.12 and higher, includes significant improvements and it addresses two identified issues: (1) power supply output over-voltage and (2) unexpected motion after an encoder fault. Polyscope 3.12 is in all CB3 robots being shipped.
After extensive testing and analysis, we discovered that the UR CB3 controller can overheat due to the power supply output being too high. ?If this over-voltage situation is not detected, a fire could result. Further, an investigation into unexpected motion has uncovered that this motion was due to an error of motion after an encoder fault. It is unlikely that the foregoing would happen.
(1) The PSU voltage and robot power consumption are monitored. Upon exceeding the factory limit, the robot will enter a fault mode (possible error codes C60, C61 and C65), stop, and power will be removed to the robot arm and from the energy eater portion of the controller. In this fault mode, further heat buildup is eliminated. Do NOT restart the robot from this fault.??
(2) Unexpected motion will not happen after this encoder fault, instead the robot stops.
To minimize risk of a fire and unexpected motion due to an encoder fault, Universal Robots urges all CB3 robot customers to upgrade to Polyscope?3.12 or higher.

Polyscope 3.12 or higher includes monitoring power consumption and eliminating motion upon encoder fault.
Before updating CB3 robots to Polyscope 3.12, check the CB3 control box main voltage. ?The voltage must be below 48.7V to successfully power-on after the 3.12 update. If it is 48.7V or higher, an unauthorized change could have been made to the robot controller which voids the warranty. ?
