FAQs
Please note the below is submitted for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal guidance.
?
1. What are the risk factors?
- Overheating due to power supply output voltage being too high.
- Unexpected movement/arm dropping suddenly due to a combination of an encoder fault and software error, error C25 has been implemented to avoid this from happing.
?
2. Which robots may be affected?
-
All robots that runs software prior to 3.12.1
?
3. What is the recommended solution??
-
If below 48.7V:
- Update software
?
-
If 48.7V or higher:
- Replace your power supply before updating
?
4. In case that the voltage is below 48.7V, can we skip software update to 3.12.1?
- No, the software update solves two issues as the updated software addresses the unexpected drop from happing as well.
?
5. In case ?the voltage is too high, can we then reduce the voltage on the power supply?
-
No, an unauthorized change of the power supply output voltage will void the warranty.
?
6. What if we do not update to 3.12.1?
-
If you do not upgrade to 3.12.1 you will need to take other countermeasures to prevent a dangerous situation from arising. Universal Robots cannot recommend any countermeasures to avoid updating the software.

-
If used as a collaborative robot, there is a risk of persons being injured. If not, there is a risk of property damage.
?
8. Are there any hardware changes because of this issue?
-
No.? If, however, the unit show too high output voltage an exchange of the Power supply is needed.
?
9. Is it necessary to change other parts than the power supply?
-
No.
?
10. How do I exchange the power supply?
